Universal Studio Singapore - Hollywood ~ fantastic journey with the stars (Part 2)

Welcome to Fabulous Hollywood.

Our journey with Universal Studio Singapore begins with the fabulous boulevard of Hollywood zone. Balong and I do have plan to go to the US but don’t know when would that happen. For now,  the closest we can get into is enjoying the view of magnificent replica which is absolutely wonderful; besides, why bother to go to California, if you can experience it here, ayt? (nah! just a thought! but the truth is nothing compares with the real one ~ ahahaha!) 

There were lots of tourist on our way in but we enjoy the whole scene actually, it feels like we were kids again (ahahaha!)

Right after a few shots with the ‘Universal Globe’, we queued ourselves  to one of the ticketing booth and pay the entrance fee that cost us SGD 66 (week-day tickets) around P2,178.oo or USD 50 per person. There are so many tourist queuing but since there were 6 ticket booths lined-up it only took us around 5 minutes and voila we’re ready to go in. Aside from the entrance tickets to the USS, we have 3 additional complimentary stubs consist of 2 entries to Maritime Experiential Museum + 1 additional ticket which offer 30% off to Voyage de la Vie show.

Many staffs helped us out on our way in; they were so accommodating and attentive to all tourists who has some queries.  We were so excited of course and can’t wait to explore each corner of the park as we planned this a month ago and here we are now! They have 7 themes in here and personally, this is like a big studio where everybody can witness some of the installation of Universal Studio firsthand.

Just a few seconds when we get in, we've seen 'Po' from the animated movie 'Kung Fu Panda!' (ahahaha!).  I love Jack Black (House of Rock! Awesome!) and just so happen that he voiced 'Po' in the film and his presence in here makes our trip more interesting! We wanted to have a photo souvenir but he is on his way to the quarter, thus we content ourselves with his side view shots. Well, maybe next time then (ahahaha!).

Beverly Hills Garage serves as the park clinic and Balong were admitted here for few hours because of Battlestar Galactica,  I'll tell you later  in Sci Fi City Zone entry (ahahaha!). There were many Filipino nurse working inside, our friend Llowel is one of them.

I just don’t know if I am the only one who feels like this but I felt like I was 10 again (bwahahaha!). Even Balong can’t deny that he felt it too, seeing his excitement all the way from ticket booth is absolutely empowering. His eyes glow every single time (ahahaha!). Come on!!!! We were already so-so years old but being in here is a magical feeling that brings back the great old memories (ahahaha!).

Hollywood zone served as the main entrance of USS so expects lots of tourist in here. It's quite hard to find a perfect shot of the whole place but patience is the key while enjoying the whole scenery.  The intricate architecture of the building that surrounds the area is really wonderful plus the presence of palm trees that lined up the vicinity. Loud music can be heard almost everywhere with a touch of goodies but oldies song that adds to the mood-effect of real Hollywood.

There are so many store outlets and souvenir shops just in case you want to splurge yourself with shopping spree. First, the Universal Studio Store is a must visit retail outlet as it is located just in the entrance and sells wide array of different toys and apparels for all ages. If you missed buying souvenir items from one of the theme parks no worries as this store caters all the zones and pretty sure you will find what you're looking for.

There were lots of camera products inside if you forgot to bring one. You can claim your photos in here too.

Next is the Silver Screen Collectibles, they sells several memorabilia that you will truly enjoy. We even have some fun taking shots while holding the ‘Oscar trophy’ and feels like we won the Hall of Fame award (bwahahaha!).

If you forgot your camera and want to have some souvenir shots why not try visiting the 3^rd store in the USS, ‘The Dark Room’? They vend not only camera products but also serve as the claim station outlet if ever you did some celebrity shots with special characters. The photo price ranges from SGD 20 to SGD 60 depends on your choice per photo.

Dining and lunch options can be seen mushrooming the vicinity too. Mel’s Diner is a resto to try on as they’re just located near the Hollywood Lake. They serve several American classic menu like burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, milkshakes and a lot more served in an old fashioned way. To add more excitement, there is a live Broadway musical in front to taste some old blues and jazz while an antique juke box is playing on the side. The music medley is bringing back old memories as Ma and Pa used to play it when we were kids!  (ahahaha!). It brings good vibes to all visitors as we can't stop smiling especially when they sang Shake Rattle and Roll (ahahaha!)

Another bistro to indulge is the Celebrity Café that offers oven fresh sandwiches, pies and desserts perfect for sweet tooth lovers. They have wide varieties to choose from but we were full that time, thus we just passed by and checked what they offered.  There is also Hollywood China Bistro beside Superstar Candy that caters infamous dimsums and noodles.

If you're a fan of the Broadway show of Chicago and Miss Saigon pretty sure you will not forget the famous Pantage Theater where these prominent show was held here! They have an exact replica just in front of Mel’s Diners that hosts the rock and roll musical of ‘Monster Rock’ featuring world class singers that brings to life some of our fave Universal monsters like Frankenstein with his bride and Count Dracula in one stage.  The spooktacular show is filled with great music, dancing, comedy acts, special effects and lots of pyrotechnics which is superb!  This is the major attractions here in USS Hollywood not to miss. If you still have time, indulge yourself in here and spend few minutes to witness the fabulous show!.

To complete the whole Hollywood scene is the presence of Hollywood Walk of Fame of course. It is one of the appealing features that consist hundreds of stars with names of known Hollywood celebrities that brought impact to the whole entertainment industry. There were many tourists sitting and posing just to have a piece of their fave stars as souvenirs. We had our share of photo shots too, there were hundreds of names in here, it’s just that some of the stars mentioned is not familiar to me though (ahahaha!).

There were many appearances of famous animated movie characters to look out too. We don’t know what is the timing when they usually showed up but when you see them it's worth the wait. They were just in the corner sometimes giving photo opportunity.  We were waiting for ‘Po’ to comeback but he didn't show up. Well good thing is we’re lucky to see Frankenstein’s, Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Winnie Woodpecker, Woody Woodpecker, and Bettle Juice. We wanted to have souvenir photos with them but there were long lined-up thus we content ourselves with background shots then.

Hollywood Boulevard is an awesome place to shop, to dine-in and to relax. Spend two hours in here while having some fun checking all the outlets. No amount of money is required if you want to have photo opportunity just don't forget to bring your camera with extra batteries as that is absolutely important.

It was one eclectic visit not to forget not to mention that it's just the first one of the 7 themes in here.

By the way,  before i forget rain or shine is the least of your worries as there is a large canopy that covers the whole zone with specialized cooling system during noon time when the sun is extremely ruthless. No need for you to bring umbrellas or raincoats, just travel light, a bag with extra shirt or short is enough.
