If you have planned to go to Egypt like we do, think again before you travel because
Universal Studio Singapore (USS) brought the oasis of North
Africa here in South East Asia. They do offer a replica that is worth to visit.
Balong and I do have plan to visit Egypt for real but we don’t have enough
budget for that yet so we content ourselves in here first (hehehe!). The
place is absolutely magical, very distinct, and full of stories in each slab
that you will see along the way.

Ancient Egypt is the fourth theme zone here in
USS located in between Sci Fi City and The
Lost Word Zone. If Sci fi City is full of futuristic
buildings, in here, it is a complete opposite as most of the design is based on
the ruins and sands of Egipto. It’s like bringing you back to
Cleopatra’s era where cultures and traditions is very rich, vibrant and lively. Hundreds of
artifacts with lots of symbols and pictures can be seen in all areas too. It also features obelisks, tens of
humanlike and giant statues, rows of palm trees, and towering pyramids
which is typical for Ancient Egypt.

They have Oasis Spice Café should you like to
indulge yourself with spicy Mediterranean and Malay cuisine which is perfect
for bringing the touch of Arabic menu in here. We haven’t tried it ourselves
because we already took our lunch earlier in Loui’s Pizza in NewYork City Zone. We wanted to get in supposed to be to check what they have but we were
occupied clicking the the surroundings and unfortunately we forgot it all along.

By any chance, have you seen the movie installment of The Mummy?
Well, we’ve seen the whole chapters and there are so many objects/persona in
here that reminded us of the movie. Brendan Fraser for example who
played the role of Rick O’Connell, an adventurous explorer who
served in the French Foreign Legion and has fought against mummies and
other creatures, has a lifelike image in here. He’s in here just to have a
photo opportunity with us you know. That’s how important and lucky we were
though (ahahaha!). It’s like seeing Rick for real complete with
his treasure hunts outfit, white long sleeve, brown khaki pants with boots and
top left coiffure (hehehe!).

Who
could forget his fiery wife Evelyn,
ha? I still remember her character as a clumsy yet very clever, intelligent Egyptologist who happens to be the reincarnation of
Princess Nefertiri. I really love that scene when she fight with
Anck-Su-Namun in front of the crowd while his father and
Imhotep do watch closely. She was so good in there, great combat skills and I love the outfit (ahahaha!).
There is human figure in here that looks like her but we were in doubt because they were quite a resemblance
with
Anck-Su-Nanum. However, since she is besides ‘The Scorpion King’ then I guess it’s
Anck-Su-Nanum then, the secret lover of Imhotep and the mistress of
Pharaoh Seti I, the father of Princess Nefertiri (hehehe!).

Scorpion Kings
replica is not to missed as well. We’ve seen
two replicas actually as we visited the zone twice, late in the morning
and late afternoon. Two different figures of Scorpion King but they both
exudes that animalistic appeal (ahahaha!). A westerner Scorpion King replica in the morning and an Asian
figure
in the afternoon (ahahaha!).

Right after checking the exterior features of the
Ancient Egypt, we decided to check ‘Revenge of the Mummy’ inside the pyramid. Before we enter, we asked the staff outside what do they have in here
and he said that it’s for us to explore.
Hmmmm scary but we get in anyway and we let our curiosity dictates what to do. I thought it was just a museum but I was mistaken.
It’s like you’re entering a real pyramid complete with Egyptian tomb of
Pharaohs as we’ve seen a lot of statues surrounding the
place. They’re great in replicating the place because the ambiance is so
weird that seems real (ahahaha!). It is a bit darker and the only source of light came from small bulb in each
corner that emphasizes the statues in the area

We’ve
seen a total of 4 huge statues inside complete with so many
hieroglyphics that makes the place more realistic. The tomb seems
vintage
as too many chapped colored paintings in the walls that looks
decomposed because of the age of time. We roamed around looking for the
staff but no one is in the vicinity to asked! (ahahaha!). If a mummy will suddenly show
up, I’ll faint that is for sure (ahahaha! ~ chicken!).
After
few minutes of walking, at last we saw group of people in the corner.
We asked what do they have in here and they answered that
the’re waiting for their turn for an indoor rollercoaster!
Sayyyyyyyyyy whaaaaaaaattt!!! Another ride again! (ahahaha!). Balong is not feeling well because of what happened in
Cyclon and here we are entering a building without knowing that there is a ride within (ahahaha!). We already tried the
Transformers 3D and Cyclon in Sci Fi City earlier and it was one superb experienced we had,
unfortunately Balong has its own doze of dizziness that’s why I asked him if he wanted to or else we find our way back.

Since Balong said yes then we put ourselves to queue then, I don’t want to change his mind you know (ahahaha! ~ selfish brat). It
was one another scary ride to try. There is no 3D glasses needed in here, all you have to do is
to sitdown like the classic rollercoaster and get ready to enter the darkness of the tomb! (hehehe!). Each ride is composed of 4 rows and 4 people in each row.
At
first, the car move slowly through the dark alley but that change when
we move further as it suddenly stops and we did nothing but
scream and shout. Well what do you expect in a rollercoaster anyway! (ahahaha!). I forgot really the details inside but there is a story behind it, about killing
Imhotep and finding the book. Comparing to Transformers 3D it is less intense yet scary I may say (ahahaha!). Just moving deeper into the tomb is a crazy decision you know as many figures in here seems alive (ahahaha!).
Just seeing the scarab beetles makes my hair grow (ahahaha!).
There are so many sharp turns and fast reverse sections, sudden stops,
nearly crashing the wall, and backward drop that makes the ride more
exciting! One phrase I can’t forget
uttered by Imhotep was ‘Death is only the beginning’ (ahahaha!).

I
wanted to have snaps of the whole ride but I don’t want to be in a
situation again that an operator will stop me just to erase all the
photos I took like what happened in Transformers 3D. So I keep my camera in the locker outside along with our belongings.

The ride only last for around 2 minutes I guess but seems like more than that (ahahaha!).
It was one filled psychological ride on
a journey to the underworld. There are so many warriors mummies in here
that you need to deal with and just thinking about the partial darkness
that you will experience is just scary!!! (ahahaha!).

Right after our ride, our exit go straight to
Carter’s Curiosities, a retail outlet that sells Egyptian treasures, such as replicas of historical artifacts or fossils discovered from the
Ancient Egypt ruins. There are so many to choose from but we gave it a pass as we have to budget our ‘coins’ you know (hehehe!). After checking the store, we left out and supposed to try the
Treasure Hunters ride just in front of the pyramid but it’s not our thing. Kids will enjoy it so much but for us who have been to
Cyclon, Transformers and Revenge of the Mummy I guess we better pass this one.
