Sentosa is a one-stop entertainment island that’s why it’s called as ‘the island’s playground of Asia’.
Everything can be found in here mushrooming, starting from hotels,
themed park, fine dining, local and international shopping outlets,
live performances, pristinely maintained white beaches although man
made, thrill seeker adventures and don’t forget the casino which I am
not fond of really (hmmmm I just don’t have money to gamble ~ ahahaha!).
Don’t forget to set aside ample amount of
cash if you want to spoil yourself here as most of the entrance fee to
various attraction differs. I used my debit cards once and won’t do it
again as the exchange rate is staggeringly high!

Sentosa Island
is one of the best island we’ve been to, no question that some of the
attractions in here are ‘too touristy’ but admit it as long as it put a
smile in your face then you should appreciate it. We’ve been here in the
island for 2 consecutive times; first day is when we spent few hours
roaming around Imbiah Lookout plus a visit to their known artificial yet picturesque beaches of Siloso and Palawan and secondly is when we spent one whole day in
Universal Studios. One whole day is not enough to fully explore each corner of Sentosa, it maybe small in size but packed with lots of attractions and entertainments for locals and internationals delight.

On the first day of our visit, we stayed in
Sentosa
until late at night. Our friend Lemwuel and Llowel suggested that
Balong and I should witness one of the ‘spectacular’ fountain show in
Festive Walk in Resorts World which is a few walks away from the
Universal Studios. I don't know what it was at first but they said it's nearest to Waterfront Station which direct us straight to
RWS. Since we have nothing to do in the hotel and we planned to reschedule the ‘bar hopping thing’ thus we decided to stay until 10:30pm.

We arrived at the venue around 8:3opm and only few tourist where in there yet. A huge signage 'Lake of Dreams' greeted us right away, the attraction we need to watch since we weren't able to catch the Crane Dance a while ago. There is a large canopy that occupies the whole semi-amphitheater in the front. Actually, it is not an amphitheater but the lobby that heads directly to
Hotel Michael. The whole place is equip with
air-controlled device to fight the extremely ruthless weather of
Singapore which is unpredictable sometimes like the Philippines.

There
are so many trees surrounding the areas too complete with landscape
gardens. Restaurants and retail outlets
fills the vicinity as well and found few souvenir shops. You’ll not get
lost once you’re here because I notice that in each corner there are
detailed directions to follow wherever you want to go.
Lake of Dreams
didn’t seem like a lake at all. It’s more like a mini pool with lots of
art pieces in it. By the day, it looks like a beautiful sculptured
fountain with intricate designs and patterns. When you look closely, the
depth of the pool seems too shallow as you can
even see the colored tiles at the bottom. The pool is also laden with
underwater pyrotechnics and laser beams, I was searching for any fishes
around but couldn’t find any (ahahaha!).
At
around 9:00pm, crowd started to fill up the lobby and we we’re in a
hurry to find our perfect location. It’s
quite hard to pass on the tiered seats as hundreds of tourist were
blocking the way. Fortunately, we found one spot good for the four of us
which is just around 30 meters away. One thing we should have done is
to bring a bag of chips to munch and drinks. It’s
good to have one while waiting for the show.

At exactly 9:30pm the show starts, it
is just one of the many ‘touristy’ attractions
in here that combines musical extravaganza with the four elements of
nature. Flames, mists, smoke, cannons, and multidimensional laser
special effects combined into one to form a spectacular show for
everybody.

There is a story line in each elements. It may not be as astounding like the dancing fountain in
Burj Khalifa in Dubai but once you’re in Sentosa
and have nothing to do then a visit to this place is a try. For those
who have been here already may say that it’s way too simple and plain,
but for us who came here
for the first time it is actually breathtakingly beautiful.
I love the flow of the story as they features elements of nature specifically and before the show ended, there is a
collisions of colors that spread all over the place making a stunning
view to enjoy. As an observer point of view, the designer would like to
enunciate the importance of earth, water, air and fire in our active
everyday life through the combinations of air spirits dancing, whales
singing, water spirits flowing, dragon dances and light presentation.
They used wide variety of colors to represent each elements. Starting up with:
Earth which is equivalent to solid...
Water which is equivalent to liquid: the color blue is too apparent.
Air is equivalent to gas and smoke along with water dancing can be seen:
Fire is equivalent to plasma where an explosions of fire engulfing the lake.
Lastly, when all these elements combine, life is formed and provides a beautiful landscape of colors.
The
story line is simple for everybody to understand but the meaning lies
on the beholder to interpret. The show
lasted only for 15 minutes but personally I like how they project the
show for the enjoyment of everybody. What the fuzz? It’s free and as a
visitors, the least you can do is to appreciate the hardwork and effort
of the crew behind the show when they put together into one awesome,
creative event.
Just the breathtaking choreography of water, air, lights and fire packed together is one show that will simply astound
you. I am too appreciative of everything that makes me smile, and Lake of Dreams
is of the many shows that I love to see. What you just have to do is to
bring a bottle of water and bag of chips for you to munch while
watching.
This unique musical extravaganza offers shows every night at exactly 9:30pm. No
problem locating the place as it is situated in the heart of Resorts World Sentosa just a few meters away from Sentosa Boardwalk. By the way before I forgot,
Jeremy Railton is the man who designed the Lake of Dreams. He is also responsible in the formation of the largest animatronics robots in the world, the dancing
Crane Dance which is also positioned in Sentosa Island.
So there you go, once again, if you have nothing to do on one lonely night then have time to come to Sentosa Island to witness 'Lake of Dreams'. It's free no worries (wink wink hehehehe!).
