Rainforest Discovery ~ mini-tropical rainforest @ Singapore Flyer

Ground Floor, The Singapore Flyer
Raffles Avenue, Singapore

This is what a man-made rainforest looks like.

Please note that this is just a continuation of our trip to ‘Singapore Flyer’. I supposed to include this on the previous post; however, I uploaded so many pictures in there and am afraid that may cause problem while opening. I made a separate entry just to highlight the beauty of this garden and its surroundings as this is just a stop-over on our way up before the flight. What I like about Singapore, there are so many parks and beautiful scenery that is why it is called the ‘Garden City’. Just try travelling via MRT anywhere and you’ll be amazed by the lush greenery that surrounds the place that you wanted to visit with. For the span of 7 days, we’ve seen I guess more than 10 gardens that has its own specific concepts. There are also some buildings in here that were fully bounded by plants as well (whew!!!).
One of the 'hop-on, hop-off' bus, the terminal is located in Suntec City near the 'Fountain of Wealth'.
One of the exhibits behind the food court in ‘Singapore’s 1960’s-themed food street’

Anyway, right on our arrival in Singapore Flyer, first thing we did was to have our brunch in one of the local hawkers just in the Ground Floor of the Terminal Building. Local's and tourist alike called this place as the first ‘Singapore’s 1960’s-themed food street’ situated just in the entrance. It's interesting because from furniture's to utensils, to the pictures on the wall represents as if you were transported way back to old Singapore. They may not have a complete replica but good enough to feel like you were in circa 1960's excluding the straw (ahahaha!).

From the garden you will see the rotating capsules.
What I fond the most in this chain of 'hawker stalls' is their stainless steel cup. I still remember my grandfather were using it then, the same design and color (ahahaha!). I can’t explain how hungry I was when we arrived at the vicinity as we traveled more than 30 minutes from Fountain of Fortune in Suntec City to the Singapore Flyer (ahahaha!). Well, it is just around 10 minutes suppose to be, it just that we always stop for picture taking (ahahaha!). It was enjoyable to travel 'on foot' but you can't deny the fact that if you're hungry even how excited you are to visit certain place your head is always telling you to feed your stomach (ahahaha!). Since we are all hungry, we treated ourselves with chicken rice and spring roll, sooooo yummy!!!! (ahahaha!)

The waterfall on the corner of the park.

The proud boulder  formation that beautify the mini-park.
I was in a hurry to finish my meal and left Balong and BFF in the food court for a while to check the 'rainforest discovery'. I was trying to convince the two to go with me yet they were so tired of walking and prefer to stay in the food court and sip their drinks. Well, because of my curiously, I checked the place myself all alone (haissssssst!). And you know what, all I can say when I saw the place is: 'wish to have the same garden as beautiful as this one at home' (ahahaha!).

Tourist feeding the schools of Japanese Koi's swimming in the pond.

The entrance from the left wing.
The ‘rainforest discovery’ is a built-in tropical rainforest occupying the entire central atrium of the main terminal building just underneath the wheel. From the garden, visitors can view the rotating Flyer's capsule and the beam that support the wheel. The garden is surrounded by shops, hawkers and souvenir items for visitors to enjoy.

Cemented pathways that will lead you to souvenir shops and food courts.

Vending machine for SGD 1 if your would like to feed the turtles and koi's.
The Garden is not really that huge, unlike 'Japanese Garden' and ‘Chinese Garden’ which are located near to Bon lay Station; however, the ambiance is very soothing especially if you are tired of walking or just merely passing time to unwind. There are plenty of chairs around and one can sit to enjoy the surroundings. The garden is composed of tropical trees and bushes, man-made waterfalls, streams, rocky outcrops, pond and access path fuse together naturally to offer a picturesque landscape for relaxing.

View of the 'Rainforest Discovery' from the 2nd floor of the Terminal Building before our flight.

Look how healthy the trees and plants are even they were surrounded by buildings.
Since I love Japanese Koi, they have koi garden with cascading water features inside the rainforest along with the adorable turtles. If you're interested, you can visit the nearby vending machine and you can feed them for SGD 1.

Stunning view of the garden from inside the capsule.
So there you go, hope you'll get an idea how beautiful this place is even it's not that big unlike other gardens that can be found around Singapore. Point is, once you're in Singapore Flyer. Try to have a few minutes in ‘rainforest discovery’, before or after your flight with 'The Flyer'. May not be that much impressive but fair enough to enjoy the quite serenity here. It offers a fresh ambiance from the humid Singapore weather. The important thing is, the admission is absolutely FREE (hehehe!).

Open auditorium just in the entrance of the Singapore Flyer.
Have a great day/night everyone…

Helix bridge is coming up next.

Cheeriiioooossss!!
